Acrylic Paintings

Since my blog is fairly new and I now have high speed internet (YEAH!!), I thought I would share some more of my artwork with you. Here are some of my acrylic paintings. These were ones I have completed in the past 2 years. Some were sold on ebay. Some were commissioned.

The painting above is 36"x48" and has lots of texture. It was completed for a friend who lives in Waveland Mississippi. This is actually the second of the same subject completed. The first painting was lost during Hurricane Katrina. The title of the painting is Saved By Grace II and it represents a time when their family was out to see many years ago during a storm and they were saved by angels. Several people lost their lives during that storm, but God saved my friends.

This painting is 24"x48" and was sold on ebay in 2007. It was done in acrylic and gel medium. The black you see on the painting is micaneous iron oxide.

This painting was commissioned by my mother for her music instructor. It was a surprise gift

and the instructor was thrilled. She has received many comments on the piece which is hanging in her music studio.

This painting was done for a special friend of mine who lives in Mississippi. It is done in layers with acrylic paint, polymer medium, iridescents, and gel mediums. It is 24"x48".

This painting was done for my mom. She l0ves to play the piano and violin and wanted reds and purples in the painting.

This Paverpol Sculpture was created with the help of my 6 year old daughter. She picked out the colors, the length of her hair etc and I created the rest. This was entered into the Paverpol USA Flower Power contest, which we are still awaiting the results for. She stands 20" tall including the base. She is made primarily of handpaper paper and Paverpol.

I am a CPI (Certified Paverpol Instructor). I can teach you how to make one of your very own Paverpol Sculptures!!!! Contact me for more information.

H.W. Mason Portrait

This portrait was completed of my husband's papa when he served in the US Army during WWII. This was a Christmas present to him last year. It is 8"x10".

Remember-I do portrait commissions---I can create one for you in 6-8 weeks!

Paverpol Sculptures

I first discovered Paverpol when I was surfing the web for fabric sculptures. I had recently purchased a Golden paint product which was a textile hardner and I was wanting to find out what other people had done with it. I didn't find what I was looking for, but did find Paverpol. I recently have taken a class to become a CPI (Certified Paverpol Instructor), so any Paverpol sculptures you see here, you can take a class from me and I can teach you how to make it yourself!!! Paverpol is a fairly new product in the USA and it is amazing. The really is not limit as to what you can create with it--just use your imagination!

Below is my 2nd Paverpol sculpture made with paper. I have made several other sculptures using cotton fabric, but have found that I love working with paper better. You can get much better seamless detail with paper and it takes paint very nicely. This one is called Maiden Tree and stands 22 1/2" including her base.

Here is the first Paverpol sculpture I made using paper. I also added handmade paper beads to embellish her with, these are the larger beads you see in the photograph. Her name is Marigold and she stands 23" tall including her base.

Pencil Portraits

In this portrait, I combined two photographs together to create the montage above. This is a memorial portrait. Both men featured were KIA in WWII.

This portrait was completed as a Christmas present.

This portrait is a memory of my dad. He passed away from heart disease in 2006. I chose to leave out some of his messy hair wisps as this is how I remember him most. Although as he got older, he didn't have quite as much hair! I love and miss him every day.

This is also a memorial portrait. The sister of the lady you see here commissioned me to complete this portrait for the widowed husband as a Christmas present. She wanted something special to give to him as a rememberance of his wife who had passed away a few months earlier.

Welcome to my art

I currently live near St Louis in a small suburban town. The Lord has granted the desires of my heart to be a stay-at-home mom for the past 5 years to my 3 precious children. Although my children have their "special moments", I wouldn't change it for the world. I love being able to watch every discovery they make, every picture they paint, hear every laugh, every memory.

The Lord is also opening doors for my art career to blossom. Other than 4 years in high school and one college class, I do not have any formal training or degree in art. Ever since I was a small child, I was always drawing, coloring, and painting. Over the years and with new experiences, I have developed a passion for different styles of art. In high school my passion for drawing people emerged. I love the beauty seen through the eyes-its almost like looking into someone's soul capturing their personality, their emotions, their memories. I prefer to capture those special occasions and memories in black and whitle because once the distraction of color is removed, the focus then becomes the person not what color clothes they were wearing etc. Thus my business "Pencil Creations" was born in 2003.
Recently I have completed eye portraits on ATC/ACEO (Art Trading Cards and Art Cards Editions and Originals) which are 2.5" byt 3.5". Some of these have been sold on ebay.

I create all my portraits from photographs for 3 reasons. One is I create art out of my home and do not have a studio (at least not yet!!). Another reason is since I have 3 little ones, I do most of my art after everyone goes to bed-so it wouldn't be very convenient to have a portrait sitting at 10:00pm. And thirdly, completing portraits from photographs eliminates added costs of a live setting, so I am able to keep my portrait costs affordable for everyone to enjoy.

My pencil portraits are completed my commission only right now. I may have some pieces available as prints in the future. Each portrait is completed on Arches or Fabriano acid-free water color paper and is sprayed with a fixative upon completion to prevent smudging, staining, fading and the effects of aging. Each portrait is also matted and framed before shipping or being presented to the customer. An instructional sheet for tips on how to care for your portrait is included.

During the summer of 2005 while watching one of those home design shows, I discovered I had a second passion-abstract painting. After so many years creating black and white detailed portraits-it is purely so much fun to create bright vibrant abstracts in a full range of colors, shapes and textures. I have created my abstracts with the paintbrush, but also with a toothbrush, newspaper, tissue paper, spray bottles, as well as flinging paint onto a canvas. Currently I am exploring a more three-dimensional sculptural look to my canvas art using fabrics, papers, paint, and many other natural items. Check back soon for photos of these amazing new artwork pieces.

I hand stretch my own canvases using gallery wrapped stretcher bars so there is no need for a frame. Each canvas is also wired and ready to hang. I use high quality Liquitex and Golden paints and mediums. And each painting is sealed with a high gloss non-yellowing varnish to protect it from damage and fading.

My abstract paintings have been sold on ebay and completed for private commissions.

Recently I have discovered a third passion-creating sculptures both free standing and on canvas using an amazing medium-Paverpol. Paverpol is a textile and decoration hardner like non others. You can dip natural materials, such as textiles, in Paverpol. Drape or wrap the material around a wire figure or other armature and leave it to dry. Paverpol dries fast, but slowly enough to allow plenty of working time. After it has hardened, you have created a beautiful decoration or sculpture, which can be used indoors as well as outdoors. It is also possible to combine Paverpol with paper, silk, chamois leather, self-hardening clay, polystyrene foam, dried flowers, wood, plaster, pottery, etc.
Paverpol adheres to almost all materials, except plastic. Finished projects become rock-hard without any additions, and outdoor garden objects do not need to be varnished unless they are painted with acrylic paints. Easy to wash off hands with warm water.

With Paverpol, I am able to combine my love for people and my love for abstract into one beautiful sculpture adorned with handmade clay and paper beads, fabrics, paper, copper wire and many other materials.

Please check back soon for phots of my completed Paverpol pieces.

All of my paintings, drawings, and sculptures come with a Certificate of Authenticity which you can validate online at the EBSQ Self-Represeting Artist Website.

If you are interested in a commissioned piece, please contact me. My turnaround time is 6-8 weeks.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
